Every skillful hostess probably has some recipe for making a sweet treat in stock. But not everyone has a recipe for oriental sweets. And it’s in vain, for example, that Arabian baklava gained wide popularity all over the world because of its amazing taste.
Ingredients:
- walnuts - 5 glasses;
- puff pastry - 700 g;
- almonds - 3 cups;
- granulated sugar - ½ cup;
- butter - 200 g;
- cinnamon - ½ tablespoon;
- ground cloves.
Ingredients for syrup:
- water - 2 glasses;
- granulated sugar - 3 glasses;
- lemon juice - 2 tsp;
- fresh honey - 2 tablespoons
Preparation:
- Unfold the puff pastry and cover with a slightly damp towel. This is necessary so that the dough does not dry out while the baklava is forming.
- In a container, mix pre-peeled nuts, granulated sugar and spices. Crush or chop the mixture in a blender. Set aside a quarter of the workpiece.
- Grease a baking dish with butter, put 2 sheets of rolled dough on top, also grease with butter and sprinkle with nuts. The dessert can be layered in the following order: 2 sheets of dough, 2 sheets of nuts, 4 doughs, 4 nuts, 4 doughs, 4 nuts, 2 doughs. It is imperative to treat each layer well with butter, in the end, anoint the top of the future baking with it.
- Cut the baklava horizontally with a very sharp knife, pre-oiled with oil or water. The distance between indents should be about 6 cm (this will make the baked goods easier to bake). After that, cut the shape with the same indentation, but only at a vertical inclination.
- Send the baklava to bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, hold at a temperature of 150 degrees, until a characteristic pleasant golden hue is formed.
- For syrup, add granulated sugar to boiling water, keep on medium heat for about 4 minutes, slightly reduce the temperature and pour in lemon juice with honey. Heat the syrup for another 10 minutes.
- Remove the baked goods from the cabinet and pour over the sugar syrup. Let cool slightly. The oriental dessert is ready.
