Orange pie is a pastry with a pleasant citrus flavor. The main highlight of such a cake are candied orange peels, which not only serve as a decoration, but also add a sweet and sour taste to the cake with a slight characteristic bitterness.

You can decorate your cake with candied orange slices instead of candied rinds. To do this, take another orange, cut it into thin slices and simmer them in syrup for 30-40 minutes.

To make an orange pie you will need: 2.5 cups of wheat flour, 2 eggs, 100 g of butter, 200 ml of milk, 250 g of granulated sugar, 2 large oranges, 1 tsp. baking powder.

Orange peels are used in baked goods, orange oil, jams, liqueurs and desserts. In addition, orange peel is often used to prevent hypovitaminosis, heart and vascular diseases.

To make an orange pie, first take the required amount of butter and place it in a small bowl. Melt butter over low heat or water bath. Pour the melted butter into a deep bowl, add 150 grams of granulated sugar and chicken eggs to it. Rub the ingredients well with a hand whisk, then add milk to them and stir.

Take one orange and rinse it thoroughly under cold running water. Next, peel the fruit from the peel, but do not discard the peel, it will still be useful to you. Cut the peeled orange into small cubes. Add the sliced orange to the butter, milk, sugar and egg mixture. Next, pour flour into a bowl, mix the dough thoroughly until a homogeneous consistency, make sure that there are no lumps left.

You can add orange or lemon zest to the cake batter to enhance the flavor of your baked goods.

Grease a baking dish with a little vegetable oil and put the resulting dough into it. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C, place the baking dish in it and bake the cake for 35-40 minutes. While your orange pie is baking, cook candied fruit to garnish the baked goods.

Take the second orange and squeeze the juice out of it. Put the remaining peel and peel from the first orange on a cutting board, cut it into thin strips. Pour the resulting juice into a small saucepan, add the same amount of cold running water to it and put on medium heat. Place the sliced orange peels in a saucepan. Bring the ingredients to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer the crusts, covered, for 15 minutes. Then add 100 grams of granulated sugar, cook candied fruits for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spatula.

Remove the finished cake from the oven. Pour hot syrup on top of the pie, add candied fruits. Cool the baked goods to room temperature, then remove from the baking dish and cut into portions.

Orange pie is ready! Serve with hot tea.
