Beautifully decorated salads look wonderful on the table, awaken the appetite. If you want to surprise your household and guests with an original dish, then prepare the Quail's Nest salad.
Meat salad variation
Lovers of sausages will love the meat version of the salad, which requires the following products:
- 200 g of cooked smoked sausage;
- 250 g of boiled beef tongue;
- 1 pickled cucumber;
- 1 boiled chicken egg;
- 1 fresh cucumber;
- 5-9 boiled quail eggs for decoration;
- 7 raw potatoes;
- refined vegetable oil for deep fat;
- mayonnaise.
The first number of the culinary program is artistic cutting of both types of cucumbers, sausages and boiled peeled tongue into thin strips. You can put them on a dish in layers, add some salt and mayonnaise on each layer, or mix it all and put it like this.
These foods are laid out in a ring shape. The hole in the middle can be made with a spoon, or you can place a glass of a suitable diameter in the center, lay out the salad, and then carefully remove it. The circle will be perfect.
The salad should stand for 2 hours in the refrigerator, soaked in mayonnaise. While he is insisting, you need to do potatoes. It is cut into thin strips and deep-fried in portions. After that, the potatoes should be placed on a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
The fried potatoes will mimic the dry grass in the Quail's Nest salad. It is put on a ring of lettuce. Boiled quail eggs are laid out in the center. The original dish is ready.
"Quail's nest" with chicken
If you want to try a less high-calorie dish, then prepare a salad with the same name, but with game, and replace mayonnaise with low-fat unsweetened yogurt. Here's what you need for this dish:
- 500 g chicken fillet;
- 5 boiled chicken eggs;
- 500 g of potatoes;
- 3 cucumbers;
- 2 onion heads;
- a little vegetable oil, herbs, salt;
- 3 boiled quail eggs.
Boil the chicken fillet in water for 35 minutes, then cool and cut into small squares.
Chop the onion finely, put it in a colander and scald it with boiling water. Then the extra bitterness will go away from him.
Cut the potatoes, as in the previous recipe, into thin strips and fry in vegetable oil.
Yolks are extracted from boiled chicken eggs and finely crumbled into a salad. Remove the peel from the cucumbers and cut them into thin strips 3 cm long. The greens are finely chopped.
Set aside some chopped herbs and a quarter of the fried potatoes to garnish. Mix all prepared ingredients with yogurt, you can replace it with low-fat mayonnaise.
The salad is made in the same way as in the previous recipe. You can boil 2 times as many quail eggs and use 4 for decoration. Squirrels are carefully removed from them and placed on top of the quail eggs. They will imitate the head of birds.
