Ingredients:

  • butter - 60 g;
  • bread crumbs - 2 tablespoons;
  • white fish (for example, cod) - 0.5 kg;
  • salt - 1.5 tsp;
  • freshly ground white pepper;
  • flour - 2 tablespoons;
  • heavy cream - 300 g;
  • chicken egg - 2 pcs;
  • you will need shrimps to decorate the dish.

Preparation:

  1. Bring the oven to 200 degrees. Grease an oblong dish or ring mold with a lump of butter (approx. 20 g). Sprinkle it with bread crumbs.
  2. Wash the fish, peel and remove all bones. Cut the fish into chunks and place in a food processor. Prepare minced fish, sprinkle with a little salt and mix well. Add freshly ground white pepper, flour, egg and butter softened with a fork.
  3. Switch on the minced food processor again and gradually add heavy cream to it, continue stirring. Repeat the procedure until the mixture is smooth. The main thing is not to overdo it - the mixture can stratify.
  4. Pour the prepared mixture into a greased dish or dish. Important: the mixture should not occupy 2/3 of the height of the dish, because the fish mixture will rise during cooking. Cover the mixture with foil or parchment paper on top. Place the dish in a frying bowl, into which you want to pour water. The liquid should be up to the middle of the mold wall.
  5. Bake the fish dish in the oven for about an hour. To check if the casserole is ready, you need to pierce it with a sharp knife - its consistency should be firm.
  6. Chill the casserole slightly and loosen the edges with a spatula or knife. Cut the casserole and place on plates. Decorate the casserole with boiled and peeled shrimp.

Serve the casserole with mashed potatoes, rice, or boiled potatoes. Drizzle with shrimp, mushroom or white wine sauce.
