Heat-resistant glassware - pots, forms, baking sheets - has recently become widespread. It can be used to cook food in the microwave, oven, gas and electric stoves. Glassware is environmentally friendly, not exposed to aggressive environments, does not absorb grease, odors and does not rust. Transparent glass allows you to constantly monitor the cooking process and prevent the dish from burning. However, cooking in glassware has its own characteristics.

Instructions

Step 1

Glass is a fragile material, therefore, handle heat-resistant glassware with care: do not drop, do not subject it to shock, do not place weights on it. Failure to comply with these requirements can lead to the fact that you will not only lose your favorite glass pans, but also cut yourself with broken glass.

Step 2

Remember that glass has poor thermal conductivity. For cooking on the burners of gas or electric stoves, use glass pans of a round shape, and additionally place a metal flame divider on the gas burners. If you place oval or rectangular ovenware on a round hotplate, the bottom will not heat up evenly. As a result, the glass may crack during cooking. Rectangular and oval dishes are suitable for ovens and microwave ovens where the heat is even.

Step 3

Before placing heat-resistant glassware on the hotplate, oven or microwave oven, make sure that the outside surface is dry. Do not pour cold water or cold food into preheated dishes. Due to the resulting temperature differences, the glass may break. If during the cooking process it becomes necessary to add liquid to the dish, add it in small portions to the middle of the pan, and not to the walls, and stir constantly. Put the glassware removed from the fire or taken out of the oven on a special stand, not in a sink or on a cold stone windowsill.

Step 4

To prevent food in the dishes from burning during cooking on a gas or electric stove, be sure to pour a layer of oil or liquid on the bottom. Cook over low heat for gas burners and low heat for electric ones. Stir the food constantly, especially if it has a thick consistency.

Step 5

Heat-resistant glassware can be washed by hand and in dishwashers. If food is burnt, do not scrape it off with sharp objects, metal sponges or brushes, or abrasive cleaners. This deteriorates the surface of the dishes. To remove burnt-on residues, soak the pan for a while in water and a mild detergent.
