Instructions

Step 1

Use dark glass dishes to store homemade alcoholic beverages. Rinse bottles thoroughly in hot water to prevent bacteria from affecting the quality of the wine. Fill bottles to the top, leaving just one to two centimeters to the edge of the neck. The room intended for storing the drink should also be dark, with no windows to let in sunlight.

Step 2

Use only new corks for sealing, as old ones can spoil the taste of the wine. For long-term storage, it is better to purchase long wine stoppers, as they will provide you with reliable protection against oxygen penetration. Steam them in boiling water until soft just before capping, and then drive them into the neck. After that, the bottle must be wiped dry, and the cork must be sealed with sealing wax, wax or resin to avoid air ingress. Place a label with information about the date of preparation of your drink, its name or taste.

Step 3

Store bottles of homemade wine in a lying position so that the inside of the cork is always wetted with liquid and does not dry out. If you leave the container with a drink in an upright position, the cork will shrink over time and the drink will start to deteriorate under the influence of oxygen.

Step 4

The air temperature in the basement and underground should be about six to ten degrees Celsius. Strong, dessert and liqueur wines will withstand a temperature rise of up to fifteen degrees, however, other drinks in such conditions will deteriorate. It is also advisable that the room has good ventilation and does not communicate with the departments where you store fresh or pickled vegetables.

Step 5

After you have taken out the wine for consumption, you can store it in the refrigerator for several days, however, you will need to close the bottle with a new cork. Also, do not pour it into a new container, leave the drink in the one in which it ripened.
