The self-made “Strike” cocktail has nothing to do with the store energy drink of the same name. This is a chic alcoholic drink based on cinnamon liqueur, which is usually mixed with lemon juice (less often with lemon vodka). Other ingredients, which differ from each other in different recipes, give the cocktail a special uniqueness.
"Strike" cocktail with peach liqueur
The popular recipe for this alcoholic drink for special occasions is based on exquisite elite liqueurs - cinnamon (Gold Strike) and peach (Peach Three), 10-20 ml each. To prepare the classic "Strike", rinse a ripe lemon, scald with boiling water and cut in half along a transverse line. Make 5-10 ml of juice in a dedicated citrus juicer.
Experienced bartenders usually do not use ice when preparing a Strike cocktail, as the liqueurs become cloudy from the cold. If the ingredients of the drink are too warm, keep them in the refrigerator compartment for a while. Prepare the drink directly in a special liqueur glass with a capacity of 25-30 ml, or in a cocktail glass (in the latter case, increase the portions of the ingredients accordingly).
Pre-hold the glassware for the cocktail over boiling water to fog up the glass, then wipe it dry with a cotton or linen napkin.
Pour into a clean dry container one by one: Peach Three liqueur; freshly squeezed lemon juice; liqueur "Gold strike". To distribute the ingredients in the glass in layers, pour them carefully, in a thin stream, through a bar spoon, knife or along the side of the dish. Serve a drink at room temperature at the end of your meal, or with coffee or tea. Drink it in one gulp and enjoy the bittersweet bouquet and fruity aftertaste.
"Strike" cocktail with cranberry juice
Among the original homemade recipes for the Strike cocktail, an alcoholic drink with cranberry juice is very popular. This cocktail tastes like Soviet-era fruit gum. To prepare it, sort out some fresh cranberries in advance, rinse and dry. Scroll the berries in a blender and filter the resulting liquid. You can also squeeze out juice with a multi-purpose juicer.
It is believed that the popular drink got its name from the final ingredient - Gold Strike cinnamon liqueur. Different bartenders may call the same cocktail “Strike”, “Gold Strike” or “Golden Strike”.
Pour a portion of Gold Strike liqueur (1 part) into a cocktail glass or tall thin-walled glass in layers, then lemon vodka (1 part) and freshly squeezed cranberry juice (2 parts). If desired, the ingredients of this drink, far from the classics, can be stirred. Serve "Strike" with cranberries as a digistif - some connoisseurs believe that this original alcohol promotes good digestion.
