There are hundreds of alcoholic beverages all over the world. And the preparation of various cocktails on their basis has become a kind of art and a hallmark of many drinking establishments. But despite the thousands of varieties of cocktails, there are generally accepted ones - those that are known anywhere in the world, those - that have become classics of drinking culture.
Alcohol cocktails have been in the making for hundreds of years. The oldest of these dates back 5,000 years and was found in an earthen jug on the banks of the Tigris River. It is impossible to try all the variety of mixed alcoholic beverages, but there are cocktails that are famous and loved all over the world. The most famous of them no longer disassemble any nationality and are served in all countries of the world.
Bloody Mary
This vodka-tomato-based cocktail was first served in 1921 at the New York bar in Paris and is credited to the bartender Fernando Petiot who worked there. And the classic "Bloody Mary" is being prepared from 45 ml of vodka, 90 ml of tomato juice, 15 ml of lemon juice with the addition of Tobasco sauce, celery juice and pepper. All ingredients are gently mixed and served in a tall glass. Over time, this cocktail has undergone some changes, including the creation of a layered cocktail, when the vodka is not mixed, but poured separately at the tip of a knife.
Screwdriver
Another world-famous cocktail was invented in the middle of the 20th century by American oil workers working on rigs in Saudi Arabia, where the use of alcohol was prohibited by Muslim laws. In order not to attract attention, workers mixed vodka with orange juice and drank in full view. And they stirred this mixture with screwdrivers, which they always carried in their pockets, hence the name of the cocktail. Preparing "Screwdriver" is extremely simple, add 7 parts of juice to 3 parts of vodka and shake it up.
Mojito
This cocktail first appeared in Havana, Cuba in a small restaurant "La Bodeguita del Medio" and quickly gained popularity all over the world, being not just an alcohol, but a wonderful refreshing drink on a hot day. The traditional Mojito contains soda, Cuban rum, lime, mint, sugar and ice. And you need to cook it, observing some rules, and not by simply mixing the ingredients. Several fresh mint leaves are kneaded in a mortar with two teaspoons of sugar. The resulting mixture is poured into a tall glass, 40 ml of rum, 30 ml of lime juice are added, superimposed on two-thirds of a glass of crushed ice and poured to the top with sparkling water. The cocktail is decorated with a sprig of mint, a slice of lime and served with a straw.
