Greens are used for cooking not only as a decorative element. Due to the sheer amount of vitamins, it has health benefits. Most of all substances valuable for the body are found in fresh herbs. But, unfortunately, it dries quickly, while losing its useful properties. What to do in this case? Try freshening it up.
It is necessary
Greens, vinegar, water
Instructions
Step 1
Dill, parsley and celery are the most common herbal ingredients that lose their firmness and juiciness when stored for a long time. To refresh such greens, add vinegar to cold water, based on the calculation of 1 teaspoon for half a glass of water. Then put wilted greens in this solution and hold them there for an hour. Please note that after such a procedure, dill (parsley, celery, etc.) will restore its former elasticity, but only the content of vitamins will significantly drop.
Step 2
Store dill and parsley during the summer heat in an absolutely dry, tightly sealed container, then they will not wilt for several days. In this case, put greens in storage in a dry form.
Rinse the parsley in warm water for a flavorful flavor.
Step 3
To freshen up wilted lettuce leaves, rinse them or soak them in warm water for 15 minutes. How to keep lettuce leaves fresh for several days? Rinse them under cold running water. Hold the leaves so that the dirt and sand is washed down from the leaves to the roots. After this procedure, put them in water and rinse again before use. Chop the leaves for salad (or other dishes) into large chunks.
Step 4
To "restore" wilted greens of vegetables, dip them first in hot and then in cold water.
If you take out a little wilted dill, parsley or cilantro from the refrigerator, rinse them thoroughly, or even better, soak them in water for 15 minutes. After that, shake off the water lightly and dry on a paper towel, spreading the blades of grass at a certain distance from each other.
Step 5
It is advisable to refresh the greens in this way the day before they are used in cooking. The result of these actions will be fragrant, juicy leaves. Store your greens correctly and they will look fresh for a long time.
