Salsa is an incredibly popular sauce in Mexico. It is prepared on the basis of a tomato with the addition of various components. The sauce goes well with meat, or even better, it will be combined with quesadilla, a Mexican dish. Salsa is sometimes compared to adjika, because some components of the sauce are really similar.

  • - juice of half a lime
  • - vegetable oil
  • - cilantro

Step 1

We prepare the ingredients. It is worth noting that all components must be finely chopped. Chop the garlic and onion.

Step 2

Cut the chili and remove the seeds. It needs to be cut as finely as possible so that large pieces do not come across in the sauce. The sharper you want the sauce, the more peppers you will need. The taste will turn out to be very pungent in this case.

Step 3

Wash the tomatoes and peel them off. It is best to pour boiling water over them to get the job done faster and easier. After that, cut the vegetables into small cubes. The taste of the sauce depends on the tomato, so you should choose slightly sweet varieties. The fruits must be ripe enough.

Finely chop the cilantro. Instead, you can use regular parsley, which should also be chopped.

Step 5

Pour some vegetable oil into the pan and fry the onion and garlic together. Add tomatoes, a little salt and pepper. Simmer for about three minutes. Add chili and continue simmering for another three minutes. Then pour in the juice of half a lime, sprinkle with herbs, stir and remove from heat. The resulting mass should cool slightly, after which it should be put into the refrigerator for several hours. The sauce is served cold.
