When you want to pamper your family or guests with a delicious dessert, but there is no time to look for new dishes, the Ant Hill cake or simply Anthill will come in handy. The recipe for this easy-to-prepare dessert has been passed down from generation to generation by housewives.
You need
For the test:
- creamy margarine - 1 pack;
- wheat flour - 3 glasses;
- egg - 1 piece;
- sugar - 1 glass.
For the cream:
- butter - 1 pack;
- condensed milk - 1 can.
Cooking "Anthill"
Remove the margarine from the refrigerator beforehand to thaw until soft. In a deep bowl, grind the margarine, egg and sugar until smooth. If you use powder, then the mixture will quickly acquire the desired consistency.
Gradually add flour and knead the dough. You can interfere with the rhinestone with your hands, because finally it should turn out to be quite steep, elastic and should not stick to your fingers. Wrap the finished dough in cellophane and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Grease a baking sheet with butter and sprinkle with flour. Pass the cooled dough through a meat grinder, put on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Cook condensed milk for the cream in advance, you can buy ready-made, but it is recommended to cook at home, so the cream will be tastier. Mash the softened butter with boiled condensed milk until the butter is completely dispersed, then whisk lightly.
Take out the finished cookies, let it cool slightly, break it into small pieces, mix with the cream and put on a dish, forming a slide, like an anthill. In order for the dessert to soak, put it in the refrigerator for a few hours, or better overnight. The Ant Hill cake is perfectly stored in the refrigerator for several days and does not lose its taste at all.
A Few Tips
For dough, you can use butter instead of margarine. But the traditional recipe uses margarine. Grind the sugar into a powder on a coffee grinder, so it will disperse faster and the mass will be more homogeneous, but this procedure is not necessary, you can also use ordinary granulated sugar.
You can add chopped walnuts (or other) nuts, poppy seeds or raisins to the cream, depending on your preference. If you do not have a meat grinder to pass the dough through, grate it on a coarse grater. In this case, it is better to put the dough not in the refrigerator, but in the freezer for 1, 5-2 hours.
Use baking paper when baking to reduce the chance of the cookies burning. Decorate the cake with chopped walnuts and shredded chocolate or cover it with chocolate icing, if desired, for a more festive look.
