Turkish delight is one of the most famous oriental sweets. There are several versions of its appearance. According to one of them, the sultan, who was tired of hard sweets, ordered the court pastry chef to come up with a delicate delicacy. According to another, Turkish delight was created in order to please the many wives of the Sultan. Originally Turkish delight was made from rose water, sugar and starch, but now there are many variations of this delicacy, including with almonds.
It is necessary
- - 3 glasses of sugar
- - 3 cups starch
- - 6 glasses of water
- 1/2 cup peeled almonds
- - 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Step 1
Dissolve the starch in 3 glasses of water, stir thoroughly so that there are no lumps and leave for a while. Divide the almonds into halves.
Step 2
Pour the sugar over with the remaining water and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. The resulting foam must be removed. After the syrup has boiled, pour the starch solution into a saucepan and add the almonds, stirring quickly. Continuously stirring, boil the mass until it thickens.
Step 3
Put the mass on a baking sheet or a tray with high sides and form a layer 2-2.5 cm thick with a spoon or hands moistened with cold water and let cool.
Step 4
After cooling completely, cut Turkish delight into pieces and roll each in powdered sugar.
