Cultivated soybeans, or cultivated soybeans, are an annual herb that is currently cultivated on an industrial scale in almost all continents except Antarctica. Such popularity of soybeans is given by several of its properties - high yield, 50% content of complete protein, the presence of many vitamins and microelements in the plant, and a huge number of ways of application. So what does soy look like?
Instructions
Step 1
The plant has various stem lengths - from 15 centimeters to 2 meters, in a mature state, a rich green color and a fruit shape similar to all other legumes. Usually, soybeans, fixed within the framework of the stalks, closely spaced along the entire length of the stems, are rather large in size and 4-6 centimeters long. Leaves are round or oval, also green in color, with subsequent yellowing towards the end of fruiting and plant life.
Step 2
Soy is a real find for vegetarians and is very common in Eastern cuisines. The list of products prepared from this plant is quite wide. For example, the so-called natto, which is also called "misso paste"; flour obtained from soybean seeds; soybean oil, which is increasingly popular for frying meat; soy milk of plant origin, but white; soy meat made from fat-free soy flour; soy sauce based on fermented beans; tempeh - a product made from soybean seeds with the addition of fungal crops; yuba - dried film peeled off the surface of soy milk and many others.
Step 3
The product tofu, cheese made from soy milk, has also become widespread in world cuisine. It can vary in consistency, from very soft to relatively hard, like jelly. Typically, tofu is pressed into briquettes and frozen, after which it turns yellow and has a very porous structure.
Step 4
Vegetarians around the world, seeking to compensate for the relatively small amount of protein in plant foods, prepare vegetarian sausages, cutlets, meatballs, burgers, cheeses and other foods from protein-rich soy. Quite common due to its high benefits for the human body and soybean meal, which is eaten as an additive to the daily diet and from which feed briquettes are made for animal feeding.
Step 5
Unfortunately, the great demand of the food market has also provoked work on the genetic modification of even such an easy-to-grow product as soy. So in 2005, one of the American companies launched the Roundup Red product on the market, which has a great ability to fight the roots of weeds, which makes it grow even faster and more abundantly. After that, a real boom in soybean production took place in the United States, and the GMO crop received permission for import supplies, after which it was established in many countries of the world.
