Increasingly, on the tables, along with an apple, you can find mango, feijoa and papaya. Exotic fruits open up a new side for lovers of healthy food, giving not only exquisite tastes, but also many substances necessary for the body.
About fruit
Papaya resembles a melon in appearance and chemical composition. It grows on tall trees that begin to bear fruit in the first year. Ripe papaya has a uniform yellow color, the barrel may have a slight orange hue. The papaya should be soft and slightly springy to the touch. If the fruit has dark spots, is greenish or wilted, do not take it. In an unripe fruit, the juice is poisonous, similar to thick milk, and only when ripe does it become transparent and does not harm.
Application of papaya
Most often, papaya is eaten raw, but it can be added to cereals, fried or baked. When cooked, the fruit begins to smell like fresh hot bread (that's why papaya is also called “breadfruit”). As a filling and tasty stand-alone meal (or a supplement to it), papaya brings many beneficial substances to the body.
But papaya is often still used in medicine and cosmetology, extracting from it the enzyme papain, which copes with stomach diseases, and herbal extracts, which preserve the youthfulness of the skin.
Useful substances and properties
Papaya contains many vitamins, as, perhaps, any southern fruit: B1, B2, B5, D and C. In addition, papaya actually consists of minerals: potassium, iron, magnesium, calcium, fructose and glucose. But its most important component is the enzyme papain, similar to gastric juice, which normalizes digestion, relieves exacerbation of gastritis, relieves duodenal ulcers and breaks down protein in the stomach, which contributes to its better absorption.
Papaya juice is also important in its own way. It can not only be taken orally, but also used externally, making compresses from it to prevent osteochondrosis and relieve joint inflammation.
Since papaya is a very satisfying, soft-tasting fruit that has an anti-stress effect, it is recommended to be consumed by pregnant women in such a busy period for them, and even by babies in the form of fruit puree.
Papaya is the fruit that works for the body as a whole: it has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and immuno-strengthening effects. And papaya also helps cleanse the body of toxins and toxins.
Even with flu, high fever and various infectious diseases, it is recommended to eat papaya, which has antipyretic and antimicrobial properties. And for "allergy sufferers" papaya is important because it reduces susceptibility to external stimuli.
To maintain youth and beauty, papaya is used in masks and creams, and its juice is often added to lotions and tonics.
You should not get carried away with papaya only if you fear gaining excess weight, because the fruit is high in calories and quickly digestible.
