Latte is a popular Italian beverage made from coffee and frothed milk. You can make a classic latte or make a flaky latte macchiato with added syrup. Serve the drink in wide cups or tall glass glasses, which make the layers of the drink look particularly beautiful.

Classic latte coffee made in a coffee machine

To make a homemade latte, you need enough fat milk and freshly brewed espresso. Approximate proportions are 1 to 1, that is, coffee and milk are taken in equal parts. But if you like a more delicate taste, you can slightly modify the recipe by increasing the amount of milk.

You will need:

- 3 tablespoons of ground coffee;

- 100 ml of water;

- 100 ml of milk;

- chocolate syrup;

- cinnamon powder.

First, prepare an espresso in the coffee machine. Then heat the milk, not boiling, and whisk it into a lather - this can be done using hot steam from the coffee machine. Pour milk into warmed cups, then add coffee by pouring it over the wall so that the milk froth remains at the top.

The finished drink can be decorated. Experienced baristas paint patterns with hot coffee on the milk froth. But if this method seems too difficult for you, do it differently. Place a few large diagonal drops on the surface of the drink with chocolate syrup. Use a toothpick to draw out the drops, turning them into a chain of hearts. You can draw flowers, stars, and other shapes, or simply sprinkle the milk froth with ground cinnamon.

Italians consider latte to be the perfect breakfast drink. Real gourmets do not add sugar to the drink - a properly prepared latte has a very delicate sweetish taste due to the large amount of milk.

Latte macchiato, brewed without a coffee machine

Latte macchiato is a layered drink with an increased amount of milk. For a third of the finished coffee, take two thirds of the milk, half of which will be frothed. An important prerequisite for making the right drink is good frothing of the milk. The foam should be thick and fluffy.

You will need:

- 4 tablespoons of natural ground coffee;

- 300 ml of milk;

- 150 ml of water;

- 2 tablespoons of nut syrup;

- grated dark chocolate for decoration.

Instead of nut syrup, you can use chocolate or blackcurrant. Do not use citrus syrup in your latte macchiato - the milk may curdle.

If you don't have the equipment for making espresso, you can prepare a drink in a Turk. Put the ground coffee in a Turk, fill it with cold water and place on the stove. When the drink rises with a frothy cap, remove it from the stove and strain - no grains should come across in the finished latte.

Heat the milk and divide it in two. Beat one with a blender or a special milk froth beater. Pour the syrup into a heated glass mulled wine glass, then add the hot milk. Pour the coffee gently into the glass and then add the milk froth. Sprinkle with grated chocolate on top of the latte macchiato. Serve with a straw.
