Choosing whole grain coffee should be based not only on personal taste preferences. You should pay attention to the date of roasting and packaging of beans, brand and country of origin, the method of roasting and the type of coffee.
One of the most important parameters when choosing a coffee bean is the bean size. The larger the grain, the more aromatic oils and useful elements it contains. The grain should be whole, free of wormholes and rot, with a strong structure and, best of all, freshly roasted.
The roasting method must be chosen based on your own taste preferences. Italian and French roasts give coffee a bitter strong taste, Viennese - incredibly rich "nutty" taste, light roasts are more suitable for coffee with milk (latte or cappuccino). Ideally, roasting takes place on the day of purchase. After roasting, coffee is usually packed in vacuum bags or closed glass jars so that it does not lose its aroma and taste, and is ground just before it is brewed.
The country of origin of the coffee is also very important when choosing the beans. Brazilian coffee has a traditional "coffee" flavor with nutty notes, Vietnamese coffee is quite mild, very well suited for drip coffee makers. Yemeni coffee has light fruity notes in its taste, it is good for cooking in cezve with various spices. African coffee varieties (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda) are distinguished by a good, clean, rich taste and a memorable smell.
