  • - vanillin - 3 g;
  • - baking powder for dough - 2 teaspoons;
  • - egg - 1 piece;
  • - vegetable oil - 1 glass;
  • - kefir or natural yogurt - 1 glass;
  • - water - 0.5 cups;
  • - juice of half a lemon.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a separate bowl and mix the following ingredients in it: semolina, 1 cup sugar, flour, coconut, baking powder and vanillin. Mix everything thoroughly. Also add vegetable oil, beaten egg and kefir to the resulting mixture. Remove this mass aside and do not touch until the semolina swells. The result is a dough that resembles thick sour cream in its consistency.

Step 2

Take a baking dish and grease it with oil. Put the resulting dough on it. Note that it should only fill half the form, as the dough rises during baking.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and send the bass into it for half an hour. Do not forget to put a dish with water under the baking, that is, on the bottom of the oven.

Step 4

You need to prepare syrup for this dessert. Take a saucepan and mix water, a glass of sugar and lemon juice in it. Bring the resulting mixture to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

After the time has passed, remove the dessert from the oven and cut it into pieces. Pour sugar syrup into these cuts and bake the dish for about 5 minutes more. Egyptian Basbusa is ready!
