Many people love Thailand not only for the warm sea and sun all year round, but also for its national dishes. Original, healthy and incredibly tasty.
The freshest shrimp, mussels, scallops, lobsters, a variety of exotic fruits and spices, vegetables, rice and clear rice noodles are the staples of Thai cuisine. Please note that most of the dishes are spicy enough, so when ordering it is better to say "know spicy".
Rice in all forms
In Asia, they know how to cook incredibly delicious fried rice with eggs, herbs, spices and different fillings - chicken, seafood, vegetables. Portions are usually large, so be sure to use your strength when ordering.
You should also try rice noodles - they can be served both as an independent dish and as a side dish, they are often added to soups.
Soups
The king of Thai soups, of course, is tom yam. This is a spicy shrimp soup with a pronounced lemongrass aroma. As with any spicy dish, it is better to order a small portion of boiled rice for it.
Tom ka (or tom kha) is also very popular among tourists. In the classic version, this is a slightly sweet soup based on coconut milk, with pieces of chicken fillet and mushrooms. You can often find tom ka with shrimp.
Salads
Caesar or Olivier can be found only in European or Russian restaurants. But there is a large selection of unusual salads with soy sprouts, papaya, pomelo or green mango. As a rule, most salads are also spicy, unless asked to make "know spicy".
Cashew Dishes
Many hot dishes, especially chicken, are prepared with lots of cashews.
Massaman curry
This famous Thai dish based on curry paste is moderately spicy. Beef and potatoes are stewed in coconut milk with the addition of many spices, so the dish has a balanced sweetish-spicy taste. Can also be cooked with chicken. As you know, the massaman is included in the menu of the royal court.
Seafood
For seafood, it is better to go to special restaurants and cafes, where they are presented alive, and you can choose a sacrifice for yourself, which will be prepared right in front of your eyes.
desserts
Of course, in a country with such a variety of fruits, I somehow don't even want to order desserts. But fried bananas deserve special attention, which acquire a special taste and aroma during heat treatment. And on the streets they sell pancakes with fried bananas.
Thais often eat right on the street; on the streets they always sell grilled kebabs, soups, rice and other dishes. There are also food courts in the markets. In Asia, cheap food doesn't mean bad. Small street eateries are often much tastier than restaurants in expensive hotels.
