Beef and vegetable stew is a pretty practical and hearty dish that is perfect for both lunch and dinner. The recipe itself is quite simple and its preparation will not bring the hostess a lot of trouble and difficulties, but the taste of the finished aromatic meat will give everyone great pleasure.
It is necessary
- - 1 kg of beef
- - 5 tbsp. olive oil
- - 1/2 tbsp. 6% grape vinegar
- - 1 onion
- - head of garlic
- - 2 small tomatoes
- - 1/2 orange
- - tomato paste
- - spices and herbs (bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, salt)
- - granulated sugar and cane sugar
- - 2 tbsp. dry red wine
- - 1 tbsp. pickled pearl onions
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the meat, peel the films and chop into portions. Heat oil in a skillet and fry the beef on both sides until golden brown, pour over vinegar and bring to a boil. Then transfer the fried meat to a ceramic baking dish and cover.
Step 2
Start preparing vegetables by peeling the onions and garlic, washing the tomatoes and chopping them finely. Saute the onions in a skillet and add to the meat. Finely grate the orange zest and squeeze out the juice. Add garlic, tomatoes, tomato paste, necessary spices, sugar, zest and orange juice to the beef dish, add salt, pour over with wine and stir.
Step 3
In an oven preheated to 170 degrees, put the meat to be baked and cook it for about 1.5 hours. Fry the onions in a skillet, sprinkle with brown sugar to give it a caramel flavor. Remove the almost finished stew from the oven, add the pearl onions to it, stir gently and simmer for about 20 minutes more. The dish is served hot, in the dishes in which it was cooked.
