One of the medical publications published an article in which, in terms of the amount of harm to the body, sugar was equated to tobacco. The difficulty in rejecting sweets is that they become addicted to them. When we eat something that contains sugar, a substance is produced in the brain that is close in its action to a drug.

Scientists estimate that a person consumes about seventy kilograms of sugar a year. Sweets, which are consumed in large quantities, lead to a number of serious diseases. Also, excessively sweet food significantly spoils the appearance of a person, and with it the mood. Therefore, in order to make our life better and healthier, it is worth thinking about reducing sugar in your diet.

Where is sugar found?

  • Bread and bakery products.
  • Confectionery: sweets, marmalade, etc.
  • Instant food, fast food, semi-finished products, canned food.
  • Milk in bags, yoghurts, curds with additives.
  • Packaged juices, carbonated drinks.

But the names under which the manufacturer indicates the presence of sugar on the labels in other words:

  • fructose;
  • maple syrup;
  • palm syrup;
  • corn syrup;
  • rice syrup;
  • Brown sugar;
  • invert sugar;
  • maltose;
  • glucose;
  • dextrose;
  • sucrose.

Reducing sugar intake

The more sugar in the product, the more it will be noted in the composition closer to the top of the list of ingredients.

  • Try to choose sugar-free foods.
  • Remove foods that you want to give up from your eyes.
  • Avoid juices, soda, and energy drinks.
  • Drink sugar-free tea and coffee. Reduce the amount of sugar in your drinks gradually.
  • Don't skip breakfast. A healthy breakfast can be whole grain cereal. But it is better to refuse ready-made breakfasts. Muesli and cereals, which are usually passed off as a healthy diet, are high in sugar.
  • Replace sugary snacks with healthier vegetables, fruits and nuts.
  • When you cook at home, control how much sugar you add to your meals.

An important rule, when you start to limit yourself in something, you need to do it gradually! Otherwise, disruptions cannot be avoided. And a smooth transition to a more conscious and healthy diet will take hold and become familiar to you.
