The author of this salad, Cesar Cardini, an Italian American, hardly imagined that his work would gain worldwide popularity. According to legend, a noisy company of Hollywood filmmakers flooded into his restaurant when there was almost no food left there. From the leftovers of his products, the enterprising Italian has built a salad that has replenished the world's cuisine.
