What do we know about truffles? It is one of the most expensive products in the world. The cost of these "precious" mushrooms can be several thousand dollars per kilogram. Why are they so valued?
In order to collect truffles, you need to have special training and great care. Each mushroom grows separately from the rest, usually near the roots of trees.
In order to find the fungus underground, they use specially trained dogs or pigs, which are very sensitive to odors. At the same time, animals are taught not only to find a mushroom, but also to dig it up so as not to damage the integrity.
Already at the stage of preparation for collection, a lot of effort is spent, for example, on working with animals, which, of course, affects the cost of the final product.
Another determining factor in the high price of this mushroom is the fact that it cannot be obtained in any other way. Breeders do not give up their attempts to cultivate truffles artificially, but a satisfactory result has not yet been obtained.
The mushroom picking season is short enough. The black truffle is harvested from November to March, and the white truffle from October to December.
Fresh truffles are the most valuable. During the mushroom picking season, restaurateurs offer their guests a special menu, which includes many dishes using truffles.
Culinary gourmets all over the world agree that there are few products in the world that can match the truffle. They are loved for their special exquisite aroma and unusual taste.
