It's very easy to make a French-style apple pie. In a saucepan, melt the sugar by adding 4 tablespoons of water. The sugar should turn into caramel, taking on a beautiful golden brown color. Pour the caramel into a round pan, spreading it evenly over the bottom. Refrigerate.

Wash the apples, dry, peel. Remove the seeds and cut the fruit into even slices. Melt some of the butter in a saucepan, put half of the apple slices in it and simmer for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place the fruit on a plate, add the oils and sauté the second serving of apples. Transfer all the fruits to the pan, spreading them evenly over the caramel.

Put some more oil in a saucepan, melt it, add cognac and stir. Pour the sauce over the apples. Roll out the finished shortbread dough into a thin round layer to the size of the mold. Place it on top of the apples and press lightly. Cover the tin with foil.
