The Waldorf salad was invented at the end of the 19th century in America at the hotel of the same name, located in New York. The original version was prepared without walnuts, they became part of the recipe 30 years later, adding to the taste of a wonderful dish. Later, this salad spread almost all over the world, and you can find it in many restaurants.
It is necessary
- Ingredients for 4 servings:
- - green sweet and sour apples - 3 pieces;
- - celery - 6 petioles;
- - lettuce - 300 g;
- - walnuts - 30 g;
- - 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise;
- - juice of half a lemon;
- - pepper and salt to taste.
Instructions
Step 1
For celery we cut off the hard base, cut the petioles into thin slices.
Step 2
Fry the walnuts in the oven (160C) until a rich aroma appears - about 10-15 minutes.
Step 3
We clean the apples, remove the core, cut into medium-sized cubes and sprinkle with lemon juice, otherwise they will instantly darken.
Step 4
Mix pieces of celery and apples with mayonnaise, season with pepper and salt to taste.
Step 5
Put lettuce leaves on a plate, then celery with apples. We decorate the dish with walnuts and serve immediately! The finished dish is not only very tasty, but also as healthy as possible, since it is prepared from vegetables, fruits and nuts rich in vitamins, microelements and many nutrients.
