Pickled herring at home is easy to prepare, you can cook a lot of delicious dishes and snacks with it. Such dishes can be very diverse, but very healthy. Pickled herring salad with carrots is not seasoned with mayonnaise, which facilitates the process of its absorption in the body.

It is necessary

  • - 1 kg of carrots;
  • - 4-5 tablespoons of vinegar;
  • - 0.5 cups of sunflower oil;
  • - 1 onion head;
  • - 1 teaspoon of sugar;
  • - 1 teaspoon of ground pepper;
  • - 0.5 teaspoon of ground pepper;
  • - 1 head of garlic;
  • - 1 teaspoon of salt;
  • - 0.5 teaspoon of ground coriander;
  • - 3 leaves of bay leaves;
  • - a pinch of dried cloves;
  • - 500 g of spicy salted herring fillet;
  • - 200 ml of table vinegar;
  • - 1 onion;
  • - 1 lemon.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare spicy Korean carrots. Take 1 kg of carrots, wash, peel and grate on a special grater, mix with 4-5 tablespoons of vinegar, 0.5 cups of sunflower oil (first fry the onions in oil, then remove them, and add the oil to the carrots), 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground pepper and 0.5 teaspoon of ground red pepper.

Step 2

Crush a large head of garlic through a garlic press and add to the carrots, add 1 teaspoon of salt, 0.5 teaspoon of ground coriander. Mix everything and let it brew (you can add a pinch of crushed bay leaf and cloves to taste).

Step 3

Prepare the pickled herring. To do this, chop 500 g of spicy salted herring fillets, soak in vinegar with vegetable oil and onions, leave for 5 hours in a cool place. Then drain the marinade, mix the herring with the carrots. Garnish with lemon when serving.
