Instructions

Step 1

Of course, apples can now be bought at any time of the year, including in winter. Plus, they're pretty inexpensive. And only if you grow apples in your own garden and you have a surplus, then it makes sense to freeze them. By the way, for freezing, choose sweet and sour apples: Kutuzovets, Simirenko, Antonovka, Aport, Medovye, Arianna and many others.

Step 2

First, wash the apples, peel them and remove the cores along with the seeds. Then cut the apples into slices 3-4 mm wide. You can also cut them into slices. It will be much more convenient for you to store apples if all the slices are the same size. After you have finished slicing the apples, soak the apples in cold water to keep them from darkening. Keep them in water for no more than 20 minutes. Dissolve salt in the same water: 10-15 grams per liter of water. And be sure to add citric acid: 5 grams per liter of water.

Step 3

Remove the apples from the water, dry them with a paper towel, place them on a tray and place them in the freezer. Once the apples are half frozen, remove them from the freezer and separate the frozen wedges from each other. Arrange the apples again on the tray and place them in the freezer: this time until they are completely frozen.

Step 4

Then take out the tray, put the frozen wedges in plastic bags and set a permanent place for them in the freezer. Try not to stuff the bags all the way to the top so the apples can fit on any shelf in the freezer. In addition, tie the wedge bags so that there is no air in them.

Step 5

Use frozen apples when baking muffins, pies, cakes, puffs, and other pastries. Also add apples to cereals, compotes and desserts. During cooking, you do not need to defrost the slices, you can put them frozen in the cake. This will preserve not only vitamins and minerals in apples, but also their excellent taste. Frozen apples taste very similar to baked ones.

Step 6

The shelf life of apples in the freezer depends on the selected temperature. So, at a temperature of -10-12 ° C, fruits can be stored from one to two months. At lower temperatures, the shelf life can be 8-10 months.
