Shepard's Pie is both an Irish and English dish. Its other name is cottage pie. This recipe is quite simple, it resembles a regular potato casserole, but there are still differences. You should definitely try Shepard Pie to compare it to a casserole. It is worth noting that the first mention of this dish appeared in 1791, after people began to eat potatoes.

It is necessary

  • - 500 g ground beef;
  • - 6 potatoes;
  • - half a glass of tomato sauce;
  • - 1 onion;
  • - a glass of frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, corn);
  • - a glass of grated cheese;
  • - 1 tbsp. a spoonful of soy sauce;
  • - pepper, salt.

Instructions

Step 1

Peel the onion, chop it finely, fry in a skillet until golden brown in vegetable oil.

Step 2

Add the ground beef to the onion and cook until the meat is brown. Better yet, the minced meat is slightly browned. Season with salt, pepper, add tomato sauce (tomato paste), soy sauce. Add frozen vegetables, stir.

Step 3

Boil the potatoes until tender, peel, make mashed potatoes.

Step 4

Place the meat and vegetables in a baking dish, lay a layer of mashed potatoes on top, flatten. Sprinkle generously with grated cheese. The more cheese there is, the tastier the cake will be. Cover with a sheet of foil.

Step 5

Bake Shepard Pie at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove the foil, set the cake on for another 10 minutes to brown the cheese. It can be served both hot and chilled, but the pie is tastier when it is warm.
