It is necessary

  • - stew (beef or pork) - 1 can;
  • - unground buckwheat - 1.5 cups (300 g);
  • - medium-sized onions - 3 pcs.;
  • - carrots - 1 pc.;
  • - garlic - 3 cloves;
  • - ground black pepper;
  • - bay leaves - 2 pcs.;
  • - salt;
  • - green onions or dill (optional);
  • - a deep thick-walled frying pan or cauldron.

Instructions

Step 1

First, peel and rinse the onions and carrots. Cut the onion into thin quarter-rings, and the carrots into small cubes or cut them in half lengthwise and chop into a semicircle. Remove the husk from the garlic cloves and crush it through a press or simply chop with a knife.

Step 2

Take a frying pan (cauldron) and heat it well. Then open a can of stew and transfer all the fat from it. When it melts, toss in the chopped onion and fry until transparent. Then add the carrots and fry them with the onions until golden brown.

Step 3

When the vegetables are ready, put the stew in the pan, mash it, mix with the vegetables and fry for about 5 minutes. Add garlic and black pepper to taste.

Step 4

Meanwhile, sort out the buckwheat and rinse it under running water 2-3 times. Then pour it into a frying pan with meat and vegetables and pour in enough water so that it completely covers the buckwheat with a small margin. The approximate proportion of the amount of cereals to water is 1: 2.

Step 5

After boiling water, add salt and bay leaf. Reduce the temperature to a minimum, cover and cook the porridge until cooked through, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 6

Remove the finished dish from the stove, mix thoroughly and can be served with a vegetable salad. Sprinkle each serving with chopped green onions or dill, if desired.
