Masala tea is an aromatic drink that is easy to make at home. It invigorates and warms, so it can be an alternative to morning coffee. And the spices used in the composition of the drink will benefit the body.
Required ingredients per serving:
- black large leaf tea without additives and flavors - 1 tsp;
- milk - 1 tbsp. (100 gr.);
- water - 25 gr.;
- brown sugar - 1 tsp;
- ground black pepper - 0.25 tsp;
- cardamom - 0.25 tsp;
- ground cinnamon - 0.25 tsp;
- powder or fresh ginger - 0.25 tsp;
- nutmeg - 0.25 tsp;
- carnation - 1 pc.
First of all, you should prepare all the ingredients for this aromatic drink. Water must be filtered or bottled. It is advisable to take milk for masala tea at least 3, 2% fat. If brown sugar is not available, white sugar can also be used. The only difference is that brown sugar is not refined. Due to this, it gives any drink a light caramel flavor.
Next, mix all the spices in a separate small container. If the ginger is fresh, then for a richer taste it should be cut into small pieces, or grated. Water in the preparation of this drink is needed so that the milk does not stick to the saucepan. You can do without it. Then the stewpan, before pouring milk into it, must be rinsed in cold water. For the classic masala of tea "for tourists", water and milk are taken in a 1: 1 ratio. However, the Indians themselves prefer not to add water.
So, cooked milk and water need to be poured into a saucepan. Put on medium heat and bring to a boil. Then, so that the milk does not "run away" and does not burn to the walls, reduce the heat to a minimum. Pour spices into a saucepan.
Milk with spices must be boiled, with constant stirring, for two to three minutes. Then add the large leaf tea and sugar. Bring to a boil again and reduce heat. On low heat, the tea should be brewed for another five minutes, stirring it from time to time.
Then, when the sugar has dispersed and the tea has completely opened, turn off the stove. Cover the saucepan with a lid and a towel. Leave the drink for another 15 minutes to infuse, and the spices settled to the bottom.
The tea should be served hot and in a warmed cup, having previously filtered through a fine sieve to avoid spice grains.
Masala tea has a bright, inviting and viscous taste. It will invigorate for a longer period of time than coffee. In addition, spices improve digestion and heart function, strengthen the immune system. This tea is ideal in the morning for those who are actively involved in mental activity. I want to use it as a separate product, without eating cookies and cakes. It is perfect both for a rainy morning at work and for a warm evening with friends.
