Tomato cutlets, or domatokeftedes, are a rather rare Greek dish known to few. Unlike traditional meat or fish cutlets, domatokeftedes can be a great alternative to fasting.
It is necessary
- - 6 large ripe tomatoes
- - 1 large onion
- - 100 g of Feta cheese
- - 300 g flour
- - 2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh mint
- - salt and black pepper
- - vegetable oil
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the tomatoes, cut them crosswise, pour boiling water over and carefully separate the skin. Remove the seeds and juice, then finely chop and place in a colander to get rid of the remaining juice, and squeeze out a little.
Step 2
Peel and chop the onion into small pieces, grate the cheese on a fine grater. In a medium-sized bowl, combine tomatoes and onions, add flour and mint, salt, season well with pepper, add cheese and mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Heat the sunflower oil in a frying pan and put the cutlets formed by a tablespoon into it. Fry on both sides for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Put the finished domatokeftedes on a paper towel or napkins, thus helping to get rid of excess oil. Chill slightly and serve.
