It's no secret that blueberries are one of the healthiest and most delicious berries. The traditional blueberry jam is very tasty and also retains many of the medicinal properties of this berry.
Ingredients for making blueberry jam:
- 1 kg of granulated sugar;
- 2 kg of blueberries.
Cooking blueberry jam
1. The first step is to prepare blueberries for cooking. To do this, the berries should be poured into a deep basin and filled with cool water for a couple of minutes. Then remove floating leaves, twigs, other debris and bad berries from the surface. After that, drain the dirty water and rinse the blueberries again in clean water.
2. The selected berries, washed and ready for cooking, must be dried and poured into a large and tall saucepan. Pour granulated sugar over the berries and leave for a couple of hours (more can be) so that juice appears. At this time, the contents of the pan must be mixed several times.
3. When enough juice is released, the jam should be cooked over low heat. It is not necessary to cook blueberries for a long time, it is enough to boil the jam 25-35 minutes after it boils, removing the foam in a timely manner and stirring it.
4. Put the prepared jam while still hot in jars sterilized in any way. Pour a layer of sugar about 0.5 cm thick on top for better storage. Close the lid tightly and leave in the room (you can on the floor) so that the jam is completely cool.
