The Teddy bear first appeared in the late 80s thanks to artist Mike Payne. A funny teddy bear with patches on its paws was originally brown. The idea to recolor Teddy came from Steve Hines. Today, the gray personification of friendship and love is reflected not only in the soft toy industry, but also in cooking.
Preparation of mastic
To prepare the mastic you will need:
- chewing marshmallows (marshmallows) - 200 g;
- icing sugar - 400 g;
- lemon juice - 2 tsp;
- butter - 1 tsp;
- food coloring.
Place the marshmallow, lemon juice and butter in a microwave-safe dish. Heat the mass until the marshmallow expands. If you do not have a microwave oven, use a water bath or oven.
Before adding the dye, determine the presence of decorative elements on the bear. Leave a small amount white, add gray, blue and black dyes to the rest of the mass.
While mixing, gradually add the icing sugar by sieving it through a sieve. Initially, a viscous, sticky mass will turn out in the dishes. When it becomes difficult to stir with a spoon, put the mixture on the table and continue to add the powdered sugar. Knead the mastic until it stops sticking to your hands. Put the resulting mass in a plastic bag and send it to the refrigerator for 1, 5-2 hours.
Creation of Teddy
Prepare the necessary tools before rolling out the parts. In addition to the usual tools for working with mastic, you will need nail scissors, water and, of course, an image of the hero of the required size.
Separate a piece of gray mastic and roll it into a "sausage". In order not to be mistaken with the size of the bear's details and to make it proportional, attach each part to the image and cut it off.
Roll a ball out of a piece of mastic that will become a head in the future. Give the details a gradually thinning shape. Use a larger ball for the body.
Make a "sausage" from a small piece of mastic, crush it with your fingers and cut off from both ends. In the resulting parts, push small indentations. As a result, the bear will have ears.
The fluffiness of a bear is formed with scissors. Use the very tips of the nail scissors to make small cuts, gently lifting them up. Only the attachment points of the nose and ears will remain smooth. Having blinded your nose, "try on" it to the muzzle, and mark the location with a needle.
After assembling, place a napkin under the Teddy's paws so that after drying they are slightly raised and do not stick to the body. While the bear is drying, roll out a thin black mastic sausage. Cutting it into small pieces, form pieces of thread with which to "sew" the patches on the head and legs of Teddy.
