Before you buy honey, smell it. Real honey has a fragrant aroma. But honey with various impurities will not have any aromatic smell. Also, a natural product must be completely uniform in color and consistency.

Spoon the honey. If it is of high quality, then it will not drip from the spoon, but evenly drain down with a viscous tape.

Rub the honey between your fingers - it should quickly be absorbed into the skin, while the fake honey will form lumps.

Pour water into a clear glass. Place one drop of honey in a glass. If the drop has not dissolved, then this honey is real. Otherwise, it means there are impurities in the product.

Another way to determine the quality of honey: if you add a spoonful of quality honey to a cup of warm tea, then the tea should darken and there will be no sediment in it.

Beekeepers also advise checking the quality of honey with distilled water and iodine. This method is considered to be the most perfect. To do this, you need to dilute a little honey in water and add a little iodine to this solution. If the water turns blue, then starch is definitely added to the honey. And if a little vinegar essence is dropped into the same solution and it hisses, then there are impurities in the honey, such as chalk or flour. They are added to honey for thickening.

Also, some unscrupulous sellers add water and sugar to honey. To determine their presence, take thin paper and drip honey. If it spreads over the paper, or even seeps through it, it’s the wrong honey. There is no water in real honey.
