Shrimp are good not only as a snack. When cooked properly, they can make a great main course. Batter shrimps will surprise you with their delicate and interesting taste.
It is necessary
-
- shrimp
- garlic
- light beer or mineral water
- flour
- vegetable oil
- egg white
- lemon
Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the shrimp. It will turn out very tasty if you use king prawns, but this recipe is also applicable to ordinary ones. Defrost, rinse thoroughly and clean them. To make the shrimp taste more intense, it is better to marinate them first. To do this, rub a couple of cloves of garlic, add water, salt and oil (better than olive - it is healthier). If you are confused by the taste of garlic, replace it with ground pepper or chili. Mix all the ingredients and let the seafood sit in the mixture for about 10 minutes. Then take out, dry the shrimp a little and remove the excess garlic. Now get into batter products.
Step 2
Prepare flour. Pour water or beer into it (as you like). Add egg whites and vegetable oil. Stir well with a whisk or fork until smooth and cover. This creates a mixture similar to pancake dough. Therefore, if you are limited in time, you can buy pancake flour (you only need to add beer or water to it) and simplify your task. Ideally, you need to let the batter brew for two hours, so keep in mind that it is better to start preparing it in advance.
Step 3
When you are ready to fry, heat a skillet with vegetable oil. Take each shrimp by the tail, dip in flour, and then in batter, and put in a frying pan. Shrimps are usually fried quickly, 2-3 minutes are enough. The main thing is that the batter is browned and a golden crust forms. Stir constantly to prevent the shrimp from burning.
Step 4
Don't forget a little detail: seafood pairs well with lemon juice. Pour it over the dish before serving. As a decoration, you can use lettuce leaves and onions, cut into rings.
There are different ways to cook shrimp in batter, but the one suggested above is the traditional and most popular one. You can get creative and add additional ingredients or substitute products. Some, for example, marinate shrimp in wine. Don't be afraid to experiment!
