Many people have found themselves in a situation where a festive table needs to be served according to all the rules. Or vice versa - use correctly all the appliances that are laid out around your plates. Of which, by the way, there are also several, like glasses. In fact, there are not many rules in this matter, and they are easy to remember.
Instructions
Step 1
The most important rule of laying out the dishes on the table is very simple. Plates, glasses, glasses and cutlery are set based on the menu. Everything that is used in the first place should be the most convenient to take.
Step 2
At the same time, even if you have planned a change of ten dishes, you do not need to arrange for guests batteries of knives and forks and towers of plates. The classic rules recommend laying out no more than three fixtures.
Step 3
The distance between all devices, as well as from them to the edge of the table, should be 1-2 cm.
Step 4
Forks are laid out with a bend down to the left of the plate. The closest to it is the fork for the main course, farther away is the fish fork, the farthest is for the salad.
Step 5
The knives are on the left with the blade directed towards the plate. The most extreme is for a snack. Then, if there is soup on the menu, a tablespoon, a fish knife, and a large dinner knife. But you can put spoons to the right of the most extreme knife, and if there is no fish dish, then between the snack bar and the dining room.
Step 6
The snack plate is placed on the hot plate, for the bread - on the left. If butter is put on the table, the knife is placed on the bread plate. The distance between the edge of the plates and the table is also 1-2 cm.
Step 7
Dessert utensils are placed in front of the plate in order: first the knife, then the fork, and then the spoon farthest. The handles of the knife and spoon are directed to the right, and the forks are directed to the left. A complete set is needed if several sweet treats are to be expected. For compote you need a spoon, for fruit or cake - a knife and a fork.
Step 8
Glasses on the table are arranged in height. On the left are the highest containers, on the right are the lowest. And only a champagne glass always stands first on the left, no matter how tall it is. When fully served, place glasses for all the drinks served. If the celebration is not so high level, they are limited to a glass for water or juice, a glass of wine or champagne, a glass for spirits. Liqueur glasses are served with coffee.
