Candied citrus fruits are a sweet treat for tea, they can also be added to baked goods, used as a decoration for ice cream and other desserts.
It is necessary
- - 300 grams of citrus peels;
- - 6 tbsp. granulated sugar;
- - water.
Instructions
Step 1
Well-washed peels from grapefruits, oranges or lemons, cut into strips 0.5 cm thick. Boil a liter of water in a large saucepan and put the peels in it. Bring the water with the crusts to a boil and cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Drain the boiled citrus peels in a colander. Pour clean cold water into a saucepan and blanch the crusts two more times. This should be done so that future candied fruits do not taste bitter.
Step 3
Connect 3 tbsp. sugar with 1, 5 tbsp. water and, stirring constantly, simmer the syrup over low heat. Dip the crusts into it, bring the syrup to a boil and simmer them on the lowest heat for an hour.
Step 4
Remove the prepared crusts from the syrup and dip in the remaining sugar. Then spread out on paper and leave to dry for a day. Transfer the finished candied fruits to a jar with a tight lid.
