Kristall is a legendary elite champagne produced by a large wine house, which until now remains independent of international corporations. The crystal is prepared exclusively according to the old family winemaking traditions, so its taste is unforgettable.
The history of the emergence of champagne Crystal
The wine house producing Crystal was founded in the 18th century. Its owners, French aristocrats, passed their business down to their nephew Louis Roederer. The talented Louis began to export champagne, and in 1896 it was tasted by the Russian Tsar Nicholas II. The tsar was delighted with the drink, so the Roderer winery became the official supplier of French wines to the tsar's table.
Since then, a sparkling drink especially for Russian nobles has been bottled in transparent crystal. A few years later, Roderer already had a whole crystal cellar, in which champagne was kept, made from the best varieties of the crop.
Thanks to the crystal shell with the owner's coat of arms, champagne got its name "Crystal Louis Roederer".
In Russia champagne from Louis Roederer became so popular that it appeared on the festive tables of almost all noble persons. This is how the nobles demonstrated their wealth and exquisite taste.
Cooking traditions
It is not in vain that this drink has earned such fame all over the world and has become the most expensive champagne. It has always been made using the most rigorous technology that even the traditional method of making sparkling wine cannot match.
"Cristal" consists of a harmonious combination of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. It also has hints of Pinot meunier grapes. These grape varieties are grown exclusively in the Champagne vineyards of the Grand Cru and Premier Cru classes. It is they who lead to the appearance of large bubbles in the finished drink.
The vineyards of Louis Roederer covered 214 hectares of area. Of these, the businessman produced only two-thirds of the grapes that were used to make champagne. Louis bought another third from suppliers. Using this technology, the Crystal is being prepared today.
Champagne Crystal is aged for about 6-8 years. It is endowed with a special floral-honey aroma with sweet notes of almonds and freshness of apple and citrus.
In the French city of Reims, a special cellar was even created for storing Crystal wine of the most unique harvests, which appear only 2-3 times in 10 years.
Winemakers put a piece of their soul into every bottle of this unique drink. Therefore, the taste of champagne is amazing, rich and deep.
