There are several varieties of kvass. However, a drink made from bread enjoys special love. It turns out to be not only nutritious, but also useful. Making bread kvass at home is not difficult.
It is necessary
- For a 3 liter can:
- - a loaf of black bread;
- - raisins to taste;
- - 6 tbsp. l. Sahara;
- - 1 tsp dry yeast.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut a loaf of bread into pieces and dry them in the oven until brown.
Step 2
Put in the leaven for the future kvass. To do this, take a liter jar and fill it halfway with dried bread. Add 2 tbsp. l. sugar and pour boiling water to the middle of the jar. Leave the leaven for an hour.
Step 3
Stir after an hour and add more water if necessary. You should have a gruel of bread. Cool it until warm.
Step 4
Add yeast to the gruel, mix everything and cover the neck of the jar with gauze or cloth. Leave in a warm place for two days.
Step 5
Fill a quarter-liter jar with the remaining breadcrumbs. Add 4 tbsp. l. sugar and mix everything. Pour boiling water over the jar. Cool and then add only half of the starter. Cover the jar with cheesecloth or rag again. Leave in a warm place overnight.
Step 6
Strain the kvass through cheesecloth, add raisins and sugar to taste. If desired, you can add mint or lemon balm leaves to it. Then the kvass will acquire pleasant notes in the taste. Leave it warm for another day. After that, pour the kvass into separate 1, 5-liter bottles and store in the refrigerator.
