Dip apples and pears in water, simmer them for 20-30 minutes. Then add dried apricots, prunes, dried berries and cook the compote for another 15-20 minutes. If in your opinion the compote turns out to be too thick, add water. Then add sugar to taste. For a low calorie diet drink, you do not need to add sugar.

Boil the compote until the sugar dissolves. If desired, you can add citric acid to the tip of a teaspoon or pour in a small amount of lemon juice. This ingredient gives sourness to compote. Citric acid is antiseptic and will prevent the drink from quickly deteriorating in the heat.

Remove the finished dried fruit compote from the heat and let it cool. Then you need to take the drink out to a cool place for several hours. Compote is served with fruit pieces.

You can also cook dried fruits with various spices, such as cinnamon and cloves. They will give the drink an original taste and smell. Spices are added to the compote ten minutes before the end of cooking.

Mint and tarragon will add a wonderful refreshing taste and extraordinary aroma to the drink made from dried fruits. They must be placed in a saucepan 3-5 minutes before the end of the cooking process. Dried fruit compote with mint and tarragon is served chilled with ice cubes in glasses.
