The term "live beer" refers to unfiltered and, accordingly, unpasteurized beer. But such a concept as "live beer" and the technological requirements for its production are determined by the brewers themselves.
Live beer is a beer that contains a live culture of brewer's yeast. It is technologically difficult to make live beer on an industrial scale, so most of the beer sold in bottles and cans has nothing to do with such beer.
Mass production of beer is regulated by law. In the process of its manufacture, it is filtered, clarified, preservatives and chemicals are added to it. These processes destroy all living things that were in the drink. The taste properties of such a drink are identical to natural ones. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about its effect on the body.
The beneficial properties of beer have been known since antiquity. It was used to treat many diseases, and the monks brewed beer in temples. Beer sold in stores does not contain these beneficial properties.
How to distinguish live beer?
Since there are no preservatives in live beer, it cannot be stored for a long time. Usually, the shelf life of such beer is no more than a few days, after which the brewer's yeast, which is stored in this drink and has all the useful properties, dies. To increase the shelf life of beer, it should be stored at a temperature not higher than + 2 degrees. This will extend the life of the brewer's yeast up to two weeks.
Another important difference between live beer and the one that is produced in large quantities is its fermentation process - it continues in the container in which it is sold. That is why the taste of freshly opened live beer is much richer than pasteurized one.
Live beer cost
The price of live beer differs significantly from that of mass production. This is due to its non-industrial production volumes and manual labor, without which it is impossible to do in the process of its creation. Such beer continues to be considered an elite drink and its admirers are ready to pay the appropriate price for its quality and exclusivity.
The value of a live beer depends on the ingredients used in the brewing process. Hops, sprouted barley grains and brewer's yeast are what give the drink those qualities for which it is commonly called "alive".
Features of live beer
In order to distinguish fresh live beer from overexposed for more than the prescribed period, you need to listen to its aftertaste. If a light "metallic" flavor appears in the beer, it is a sure sign that it is no longer fit for consumption.
