On your birthday you want to be beautiful, joyful, the only one, surrounded by the attention of family and friends, and not at all to stand at the stove. On the other hand, if it is decided to spend the holiday at home, you need to feed the guests. For such a case, there must be a light hot dish in the recipe box.
Meat dish
The easiest way to cook a holiday treat is in the oven. After all, after you have prepared the ingredients and sent them to bake, there is practically no need to follow the dish. The main thing is to take it out of the oven in time.
For example, on your birthday, you can cook meat on a potato "pillow" under a cheese crust, one of the variations of the French-style meat, beloved by many. Delicate and juicy, guests will surely like it. In addition, there is no need to separately prepare a side dish for it.
To prepare this dish you will need:
- 2 large onions;
- 3-4 large potatoes;
- 500 g fillet of beef or pork;
- 600 g of tomatoes;
- 200 g of hard cheese;
- 300 g low-fat sour cream;
- 150 ml of water;
- salt, pepper to taste;
- vegetable oil for lubrication.
Start by preparing the food. Rinse the meat under the tap and dry thoroughly with a napkin. Cut it across the grain into finger-sized portions and beat lightly with a special hammer or with the back of a knife. If you are sure that the meat is young and tender, you can skip the last step. Season the steaks with salt and pepper.
It is best to beat the meat on a thick wooden board, previously moistened with cold water. And in order to prevent splashes from scattering throughout the kitchen, cover it with cling film.
Peel and cut the onion into half rings, peel the potato and cut it into slices about 1 cm thick. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Take a deep baking sheet and brush it with vegetable oil. Place the potatoes on the bottom in an even layer and lightly salt. Place the meat on top. For a juicier meal, stack the steaks side by side. Then distribute the onions evenly, on which place a layer of sliced tomatoes.
Dilute sour cream with water. In consistency, it should resemble kefir. Season with salt and pepper and pour evenly over the contents of the baking sheet. Place the meat in an oven preheated to 190 ° C for about half an hour. When time has passed, remove the baking sheet, sprinkle with grated cheese and place in the oven for about 15 minutes more.
Before removing the food completely from the oven, check that it is cooked with a fork. It should pierce meat and potatoes effortlessly.
a fish dish
If you or your guests prefer seafood to meat, prepare a similar dish with fish. It will require the same ingredients as for the previous dish, with the only difference that instead of meat, you need to take 600 g of cod fillet or other fish.
The cooking process for this hot dish is almost completely the same as the recipe described above. Put a layer of potatoes cut into slices on a baking sheet greased with vegetable oil, salt. Next, you need to decompose the pieces of fish fillet, washed and sprinkled with salt and pepper, onion cut into half rings, tomato slices. Top with sour cream diluted with water and bake for half an hour at 190 ° C, then sprinkle with grated cheese and cook for another 15 minutes.
