Step 1

To make a coffee cake, bake a chocolate cake according to the instructions (if using a convenience product) on the package or according to your favorite recipe, adding strong coffee instead of the water required by the recipe (in the same amount).

Step 2

When the cake is ready, remove it from the mold and let cool for about 10 minutes. After cooling, cut it lengthwise into 2 or 3 pieces.

Step 3

Prepare a fairly large amount of chocolate frosting in a bowl. Add instant coffee, but not so much that the texture of the glaze changes, stir vigorously. Remember that coffee cake must smell strongly of this product.

Place one crust on the foil and cover with a large layer of frosting. Place the next layer on top (if you have 3 cakes, place them between large layers of frosting). Cover the entire coffee cake with a thin layer of icing and place in the freezer for 1 hour, or until the icing hardens.

Step 5

Remove from the freezer and cover with another layer of glaze, being careful to create a level surface. Place in the freezer again for 15 minutes.

Step 6

Microwave the white chocolate in a safe container and heat at 15 second intervals until completely melted. Take your chocolate coffee cake out of the freezer and slowly pour over the white chocolate, starting in the center and spreading the chocolate layer towards the edges. If necessary, use a spatula or knife to spread the chocolate around the cake. Again, place in the freezer for 15 minutes.

In the meantime, put the remaining chocolate icing in a tight bag (melt it if it's frozen) and cut a hole in the corner. Remove from the freezer and make patterns evenly around the perimeter of the cake.
