Thick, sweet and aromatic chocolate syrup is the perfect addition to many dishes. You can pour ice cream and profiteroles on them, pancakes and oatmeal, add to milk or coffee. Chocolate syrup is made from cocoa powder and is therefore not as high in calories as any chocolate sauce made of dark chocolate and butter or cream.
It is necessary
-
- Chocolate syrup
- 125 g cocoa powder;
- 200 g icing sugar;
- 500 ml of water;
- 1 tsp vanilla extract;
- 15 g cornstarch;
- a pinch of salt.
- Chocolate sauce
- 170 g dark bitter chocolate;
- 115 ml of water;
- 30 g butter;
- 6 tbsp cream;
- 3 tablespoons of sugar;
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence.
Instructions
Step 1
Chocolate syrup
Take a small saucepan and combine the cocoa powder, starch, icing sugar and salt in it. Pour in warm boiled water and stir until the mixture is smooth, homogeneous.
Step 2
Turn on a medium heat on the stove and place a saucepan on it. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil the future syrup for 2 to 5 minutes, remembering to stir. Check readiness by the degree of thickening.
Step 3
Let the syrup cool slightly and add the vanilla extract. Try what you get. If the mixture is too sweet, add some more salt.
Step 4
Transfer the contents of the pot to a clean glass bottle with an airtight lid and store in the refrigerator. The shelf life of homemade chocolate syrup is up to two months. From the specified amount of ingredients, you will get about 600 grams of syrup.
Step 5
You can diversify the flavor of the syrup by adding ground nuts, cinnamon, a little red chili, or cardamom.
Step 6
If you want to complement your dessert with something with a more chocolate, velvety, rich taste, then you should prepare not a syrup, but a sauce.
Step 7
Chocolate sauce
In a small saucepan, place the water and sugar, stirring constantly, wait until the sugar dissolves, and add the butter and chopped chocolate, chopped into small pieces.
Step 8
Remove the pan from heat and continue stirring until a smooth, homogeneous, glossy paste is obtained. Add cream and vanilla essence to it. Serve while warm.
Step 9
With or instead of vanilla essence, you can add any aromatic alcohol, such as Kahlua or Grand Marnier liqueurs. You can also vary the flavor of the sauce with pepper, cardamom, and other spices.
