California rolls are one of the most popular Japanese dishes. Most often they are prepared with crab meat, and in an inexpensive version - with crab sticks. However, if you wish, you can add salmon to this roll.
Roll with salmon and avocado
You will need:
- 250 g of round grain rice for sushi;
- a pinch of salt;
- 1 tbsp. Sahara;
- 3 tbsp. rice vinegar;
- 30 g of sesame seeds;
- 1 ripe avocado;
- 200 g fresh chilled salmon;
- soy sauce;
- wasabi;
- 3 sheets of pressed nori seaweed.
Start cooking with sushi rice. Pay special attention to this step, as properly cooked rice is the main condition for delicious rolls. Rinse the rice in 5-6 waters. Transfer it to a saucepan and fill with water so that it covers the cereal by 2 fingers. Bring rice to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes without stirring. If necessary, you can add water during cooking. Season the rice separately. Heat the rice vinegar, mix it with salt and sugar, and add this mixture to the cooked hot rice.
If you like rolls with sweeter rice, add another 1 tsp. granulated sugar in the dressing.
Cut the salmon into strips. Peel the avocado and chop it into strips too. Start making rolls from the rice that is still warm. Wrap the sushi mat in plastic wrap and place the nori sheet on it. Spread the rice over the nori, leaving 0.5 cm from the long edge to glue the roll. Turn nori rice side down. Place slices of avocado and salmon in a line in the center. Roll up the roll, then moisten the free edge with water and use it to glue the roll. Dip the roll in the sesame seeds. Cut it into 8 pieces. Serve the rolls with a little wasabi and soy sauce in a separate bowl.
Homemade California roll with salmon and caviar
You will need:
- 300 g of ready-made sushi rice;
- 4 sheets of nori;
- 200 g of fresh salmon;
- 100 g of Philadelphia cheese;
- 1 small cucumber;
- 70 g of red flying fish roe;
- wasabi;
- soy sauce.
Expensive flying fish caviar can be replaced with a more democratic analogue - chaplain's caviar. Both of these products are very similar in taste.
Prepare sushi rice as directed in the previous recipe. Spread a serving of rice over the nori sheet, then turn the sheet over. Brush the center of the nori leaf with a little wasabi. Don't overdo it, as wasabi is quite spicy. Cut fish and cucumbers into thin strips and arrange along the center line of the nori leaf. Also spread the cream cheese evenly in the center. Roll the roll gently, then cut it into 8 pieces. Serve sushi immediately after cooking - the fresher it is, the better.
