Making homemade cake often causes a real stir in the family, especially among children. It is not known what is more important for them - the cake itself or the cooking process. A homemade cake can be without any decorations, but if you give free rein to your imagination and come up with an interesting composition, the cooking process itself can become a real holiday that will be remembered for a long time. The most traditional type of decoration is marzipan or mastic roses.

It is necessary

    • For marzipan:
    • egg white;
    • almond;
    • powdered sugar;
    • lemon juice;
    • meat grinder;
    • mixer or whisk.
    • For a rose:
    • ready-made marzipan;
    • food colorings;
    • knife;
    • toothpick;
    • "flower" and "asterisk" molds;
    • rolling pin;
    • board;
    • stick with a ball;
    • cling film.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare marzipan. For 2 egg whites, take 250 g of almonds and the same amount of powdered sugar. Almonds must be scrolled through a meat grinder 1 time, then add powdered sugar to it and twist again. Place the mixture in a cup and whisk.

Step 2

Add a few drops of lemon juice and stir gently. Gradually pour in the protein in a thin stream. Beat the mixture until a homogeneous dough is obtained. It should be pretty tight.

Step 3

Form an elongated drop from a piece of marzipan. Put it on a toothpick. This will be the heart of the rose. You can mold it in a different way - roll out a circle, cut or cut off the edges with cloves, roll it into a tube and also put it on a toothpick. But in this way it is better to sculpt from mastic.

Step 4

Roll up a ball of yellow or red marzipan. It should be slightly larger than the droplet, from which you will make petals. Place the ball on a piece of cling film and cover it on top with the second piece. Roll out the ball to make a round cake. It should be no more than 2 mm thick. Cut the flower out with a mold.

Step 5

Use a sharp knife to cut the lines where the petals join. If the mold is small, then you need to cut it no more than 1 cm. Roll the edges of the petals with a stick with a ball so that they become wavy and thin.

Step 6

Place the resulting flower on a toothpick close to the core. Wrap the core with one of the petals, slightly bending its edges. Skip the next petal, and wrap the core with the third one. So, after one, wrap the core with all the petals.

Step 7

Make a second of the same flower and repeat all operations. For a rose from mastic, you can mold individual petals and wrap the central petal with them. Cut out the leaves. Roll out the green marzipan cake and cut the leaves into an asterisk. You can stretch them slightly and sharpen them, then they will look more like real ones.
