- To make a dessert with an orange and meringue, the first step is to process the oranges. Rinse the fruit in warm running water and wipe with a napkin. Cut off the top from each orange. Then extract the soft part from the fruit. This must be done carefully so as not to damage the orange peel, as it will act as a container for the meringue. Drain all the resulting nectar into a mug and strain through a strainer.
- Now you need to prepare the mixture for filling the oranges. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar to make a light and slightly fluffy mixture. Then you need to whip the cream. Stir them in with the egg mixture and pour in 5 tablespoons of strained orange juice.
- Fill the prepared orange "pots" with the resulting mixture. Place the structure in the freezer for 4 hours, the longer the oranges with meringue stay in the freezer, the better.
- Remove the oranges from the freezer and allow them time to reach room temperature.
- At this time, prepare the meringue to close the top of the orange. To do this, beat the egg whites until elastic peaks. Add one tablespoon for each protein and beat again. The mixture should become firm and shiny.
