Instructions

Step 1

Freezing onions

Start by choosing the right bulbs - they should be free of stains and mold. Peel the vegetable and rinse it. Dry on a waffle towel to drain the liquid.

Step 2

Cut the prepared onions in half and then cut each into slices. If you do not like such a large shape, then you can cut the onion into small cubes of about 1 centimeter.

Step 3

Take a bag that can be closed well and place the chopped vegetable in it. Leave about 2 centimeters at the top - the onion expands when frozen. It is better to gently squeeze out the air that remains in the bag.

Step 4

To speed up the freezing and defrosting time of onions, it is best to spread them with your hands over the entire surface of the bag. Breaking off a piece of such a briquette in the future will be much easier. Use several bags depending on the amount of onion.

Step 5

Take a baking sheet and put onions on it for freezing, slightly pressing down with your hands, and if there are a lot of such packages, then manipulations need to be done with each one. An evenly distributed vegetable will take up less space, and all the bags will fit easily into even a small freezer.

Step 6

Freezing green onions

Peel the onion by removing yellow and dried feathers. Wash each onion and lay out to dry on linen towels or waffle towels. Leave the greens to dry for about an hour and then move on to the next step.

Step 7

Cut the roots and herbs into separate bowls. Take the bags and place the onions in them. Release excess air from the plastic bags by pressing gently.

Step 8

Spread the herbs evenly over the bag and place on a metal tray. Leave the onions in the freezer for about an hour and then arrange them as you like. Do not forget that you need to store juicy greens at temperatures down to -18 ° C.

Step 9

Each bag of chopped onions must be marked with the freeze date. This is due to the fact that storage of a frozen vegetable lasts only six months. If the onion is in the freezer for more than 6 months, it will start to smell bad. Frozen green onion feathers are stored for about 3 months, so freeze them separately.
