Instructions

Step 1

For storage, you must select the right grenades. They should be uniform in color without brown spots, have no skin damage and be firm to the touch. The peel of a ripe pomegranate has a slight glossy sheen.

Step 2

There are several ways to store grenades. One of them is the simplest: place the pomegranates in the lower compartment of the refrigerator, designed for storing fresh vegetables and fruits. If some of the fruits are in doubt, then they can be peeled, folded into plastic bags and frozen in the refrigerator. In this case, the peel should not be thrown away. It can be dried and used as needed, as it also has beneficial properties.

Step 3

A slightly more laborious, but perhaps the most reliable way to keep pomegranates fresh is as follows. It is necessary to dilute ordinary clay with water to the consistency of thick sour cream. The resulting mixture should be filled in the so-called "crown" of the pomegranate. This will prevent the skin from drying out prematurely. After the clay has dried, the pomegranates must be put into wooden boxes in two or three layers. Additionally, you can wrap each pomegranate in parchment paper or tracing paper. The boxes with fruits should be stored on racks in a dark and cool ventilated area.
