Plum jam is perfect for filling in a variety of pastries. Homemade baked goods acquire a unique taste thanks to the spicy sourness and wonderful aroma. You can eat jam and just as a separate delicacy.
It is necessary
- - 2 kg of plums;
- - 2 kg of sugar;
- - meat grinder;
- - a container for cooking.
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the plums and sort them. Plums prepared for cooking should be rot-free, ripe and soft.
Step 2
Remove the seeds from the plums. To do this, you can use a simple pencil - with its help, the bones from the plums pop out quickly and easily.
Step 3
Place the pitted plums in a saucepan or basin. Now you need to grind them all with a meat grinder. You should not use a blender for this purpose - it will not be able to break the skin of the plums.
Step 4
Collect all the ground plums in a container for the jam. Add sugar and stir everything with a wooden spatula or spoon.
Step 5
Bring the mixture to a boil. Cook with a low boil - the plums will sizzle a little, as it should be. Plum jam should cook for about 45 minutes - stir it from time to time and remove the foam that has formed on it.
Step 6
Check readiness periodically. You can do it like this: scoop up a little of the brew with a spoon and drip it onto a clean plate. If the drop does not spread over the plate, we can assume that the jam is ready.
Step 7
Prepare jam jars. Sterilize the jars over a pot of boiling water with steam. The lids can be boiled in the same water.
Step 8
Pour the plum jam into the prepared jars. Pour it hot. Close the lids and store in a designated place. Jam is perfectly able to stay at room temperature for about a year.
