Roll out a thin cake. The thinner the sheet is, the more layers you can make, and the quality of the puff pastry is determined precisely by their number. In an ordinary kitchen, it is unlikely that it will be possible to create such a masterpiece, but try to ensure that the cake is thin and approximately the same thickness over the entire area.

Place a piece of butter in the middle. Wrap the edges of the cake over it on all sides. Roll everything together into a rectangle. Better to make it thinner. Fold what you get three times.
